Scholarships

Purpose

The SFCNAIW scholarship program was created to financially assist eligible individuals with the cost of tuition and study materials for insurance-related courses that are at least ten weeks in duration.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must meet the criteria listed below:

Administration

The SFCNAIW Scholarship program is administered by the IEA who will present reports at conclusion of the Fall and Spring semesters to the SFCNAIW Educational Advisory Committee.

A scholarship application must be completed along with an IEA class registration form identifying the course the scholarship program is requested to support. The available IEA courses can be reviewed on the IEA web-site at www.ieatraining.com. All applications and supporting information must be sent to the following IEA office/contact:

Region VIII Scholarship

Imperial Premium Finance, Inc. established the Region VIII Scholarship fund for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the Regional VIII NAIW members who need assistance for the insurance educational endeavors. It continues with the assistance of A. Marie Yarbor and Brady, Harbord & Payne Insurance Brokers and donations from Associations in Region VIII with the objective of promoting professional insurance education among Region VIII NAIW Members who are members in good standing with NAIW and have been for at least one year prior to application to the fund.


NAIW Designation Scholarships

NAIW International and the National Alliance offers a number of Designation specific scholarships which covers the registration fee for enrollment in the classes needed to obtain the designation.

NAIW Education Foundation

The NAIW Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, established in 1993 by the National Association of Insurance Women (International) with the mission to improve its current and potential employees. A volunteer Board of Directors composed of NAIW members and other industry leaders governs the Foundation. Its funding comes from individual, non-profit industry groups, foundations, corporation, and other industry-related businesses. Since 1993, it has awarded over 200 college and professional scholarships totaling in excess of $200,000.

College Scholarships:

Offered to college students who are completing either a major or minor in Insurance, Risk Management, or Actuarial Science. The college scholarships are awarded once a year in June.

Professional Scholarships:

Offered to insurance industry professionals to broaden their knowledge of the risk and insurance field. Professional Scholarships are awarded three times a year in October, February and June with September, December and March application deadlines.

ACSR / NAIW Scholarship Program

The Accredited Customer Service Representative program (ACSR) is a national industry certification program for the training of personal, commercial and life/health service representatives. Developed by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Inc. (IIABA) and American Institute for CPCU (AICPCU), this program provides intermediate level training in all aspects of agency operations, account development, errors and omissions, and technical insurance coverages.

IIABA and AICPCU, to further promote and assist the independent insurance agencies' commitment to excellence, is pleased to award the following scholarships at the annual National Association of Insurance Woman (NAIW) convention.

Two full scholarships to take all classes to earn the ACSR personal, commercial or life/health designation.

For the full scholarship winners, after completing all required courses, the winners will be permitted to use ACSR after their name and will receive a certificate suitable for framing.

One scholarship to take one ACSR personal, commercial or life/health class

The winning participant will select an ACSR class of their choice from a participating IIABA state association or through the Virtual University.

The following eligibility criteria must be adhered to in order to qualify for the scholarship:

NAIW and participating IIABA state associations will solicit candidates during the year using the ACSR/NAIW Scholarship Application. All applications must be postmarked no later than April 15th. Any applications received after the deadline may be considered for the next scholarship period. All fully completed applications will be reviewed and the individual winners selected by the IIABA Virtual University Curriculum & Research Subcommittee.
